School students can ac-count on local Accountancy firm for experience in the work place

2 year 10 Ballakermeen students joined accountancy firm Crowe Clark Whitehill for a weeks work experience.

Bethan Owen worked in the back office function of the firm, which consisted of internal book-keeping, petty cash distribution (Bethan was a lot more generous than the usual lady 😉 and reconciling.  Bethan wasn’t sure if accounts work was for her as she assumed it would be quite boring, but was pleasantly surprised at how diverse the position was and thoroughly enjoyed her experience with us.

Bethan’s real passion is the performing arts and ultimately she would like to be performing in the West End.

Brindan Ysodaran worked in the Business services department of the office and found his feet very quickly with client book-keeping and accounts preparation.  Brindan also assisted with the audit of the company safe and the review of our engagement letters.  Luckily Brindan didn’t need to tell anyone off!

Brindan started with us, unsure of what an accountants role is.  Brindan now understands the role to the end result for the client.

Brindan found the experience valuable for his future decisions and he is open to the idea of becoming an accountant!

We have found with all out work experience students in the past, that they are always pleasantly surprised that maths isn’t the only skill required to work in the business services team and its never as it seems!
