Starting the night was Brian Cowley vs Alan McNair with the McNair running out 3-0 winner in a somewhat comfortable nights work.

The other game to start was Jon Shepherd taking on his old B league Captain David Freer. Dave took his time getting warmed up – surprising considering the heat of the courts this evening! (Finally) and found himself 2-0 in a short period of time. The heat took its toll on Jon as Dave came back with 2 comfortable games of his own – the final game going to the wire – After a very poor call by referee Ben peach denying Jon a stroke for the win (some would say Karma… Carl?) which lead to a lung busting longest rally of the night which Jon won to take the game 15-14 & the match.

Next round of matches saw Lyndon Cheetham vs Mark WS (The battle of the wrists) in another 5 set thriller. The heat again taking its toll on the two players. It took Mark 2 games to get used to the court heat however he came back in games 3 & 4 in two very close games – the young legs of Lyndon saw him take the final match 15-11 and the game 3-2.

Oliver Wait making his long awaited B league Debut took Mark Stratford by storm going 9-3 in the first to almost throw it, winning 15-14. Oli then took another close win 15-12 before running out easy winner in the 3rd 15-8 after unfortunately striking Mark with the ball causing mark to lose focus.

Final match of the night saw the return of the giant Douglas Jacobson who despite his best efforts was punished by a Ben Peach in inspired form. Ben cruised the first and was 11-2 up in the second! however Doug finally started to play some solid squash and got back into the game but not enough to take down Ben. Not a bad return to B league squash for Doug and surely better performances will swiftly follow.
