Accountancy firm weighs in to sponsor charity boxing contest
Accountancy firm Crowe Clark Whitehill is to be lead sponsor of the 2016 Thriller in the Villa charity boxing contest.
The Villa Marina will be the setting on Friday September 23 when men and women white-collar boxers enter the ring and challenge their rivals to raise funds for Rebecca House and Hospice Isle of Man.
Speaking at the press launch, CCW’s marketing manager Kimberley Moughtin said: ‘This year we will have been operating on the island for 33 years and, to borrow a phrase from the world of boxing, Crowe Clark Whitehill is “punching above its weight”.
‘The firm is now widening the reach of its community engagement and sponsoring a number of sporting events. Recently, for example, we entered an agreement to support Castletown Lawn Tennis Club, and now we are pleased to be lead sponsor of Thriller in the Villa.
‘A number of factors determined our decision, not least the tremendous response to last year’s event which attracted around 1500 people and raised in the region of £20,000. Much of that was down to a combination of the generosity of the people of the Isle of Man and the amazing hard work of Chris Mooney and his team at PSS Events.
‘Above all, though, we were moved to lend our support because all the money raised will go to Rebecca House children’s hospice and Hospice Isle of Man, whose compassionate specialist palliative care services are doing so much for those who are dealing with a life-limiting or life-threatening illness.’
Sharon Connor, events manager for Hospice, added her appreciation to Crowe Clark Whitehill for their support of this event. ‘It is the second year of the event and promises to be even more exciting and exhilarating, but it would not be possible to do these events without the support of a company such as this. Thank you.’
