As part of its programme to support local sporting endeavor, accountancy firm Crowe Clark Whitehill has entered into a sponsorship agreement with Castletown Lawn Tennis Club.
The agreement, which will see Crowe Clark Whitehill branding at the club and on members’ kit and the firm sponsoring this year’s open Grand Slam doubles tournaments and closed club championships, was launched with a £500 cheque presentation by the firm’s marketing manager, Kimberley Moughtin to the club’s chairman Bob Borland and secretary Richard Kerr.
Mr Kerr said: ‘The club is very pleased to accept Crowe Clark Whitehill as our main sponsor for 2016 and we are looking forward to working with them, this year and hopefully for further seasons.’
Speaking just after the Wimbledon finals Mr Kerr added: ‘The club can boast that a Wimbledon finalist once played on the courts. In 1971 Mark Farrell played with some club members while on a coaching visit to the island. Three years later Mark reached the Wimbledon mixed doubles final with partner Lesley Charles.’
Director Phaedra Bird said: ‘Crowe Clark Whitehill has been serving the Isle of Man for over 30 years and is committed to investing in the community which has supported us so loyally these past three decades. Castletown Lawn Tennis Club is making great strides in promoting tennis to a wider audience and encouraging young players to realise their potential. We applaud these aims and are proud to have become the club’s lead sponsor. It seems the perfect match.’
